My favourite maps are SpecialOp and Dammage. I like SpecialOp because both sides have a chopper (5-crew) and the US has boats which are useful to drive at the other side of the map with a full 3-man crew and flank the centre flags 3 and 4 and continue on foot towards 6 and 5.
A good team with mics will dominate, because the majority of the players will just stay at Flag 2 and snipe the Chinese in 3 and 4. Choppers can be used to make a stealthy approach towards the opposite team's bases.
The USA Blackhawk has 1 great route to make a stealthy flight towards 6 or 5. The road on the other side of the map flanked with trees is a great route to make a stealthy flight. Just fly low and take your crew to 6, and drop the snipers (if there is any) on the huge cliff with the rocks above Flag 6.
The Chinese WZ-9 has a more difficult way to make a stealthy approach because it can be easily seen from Flag 2 and 3 and 1. Just make a quick approach to 2 or 3 and jump out with your crew before the GTAMs (if any) get you killed.
The Chinese has the good chance to launch mortars from Flag 4 but if the USA team is wise, they can launch mortar strikes on Flag 4 from their mainbase Flag 1. If the USA team has captured Flag 3, it is wise to use the Humvee to get to Flag 6/5 quickly. I just love the balance of the map..the map rarely ends up to be a spawnkilling fest..
The CTF mode of this map is balanced but rarely played. Everybody just plays RussianBoredom and Borestab and BoredomTooFar..
My other favourite map, Dammage, requires teamwork a lot. If your team is full of assholes who can't do anything than just go solo, your flags will be taken, and there is no main flags in this map.
The US team should use the boats to get to flags. The US team should head out to Flag 4, then get the new boat from Flag 4 so they can take a stealthy cruise towards Flag 1, to easily pin down the Chinese. Some US players should defend Flag 5 incase the Chinese move towards 5 from Flag 1.
Flag 5 has one Humvee, one LAV-300, and one Sea Ark Stinger (the boat). The Humvee is pretty useless, unless you want to plant C4 on it and just bail out of it in front of the Chinese 30-MM at Flag 1. You can use it to take a crew to the temple, but the odds are you will get destroyed. Flag 5 has 2 gun emplacements, the grenade launcher emplacement overlooking the small village between FLag 5 and 1, and a 50-Cal gun emplacement overlooking the river and Flag 4. The Chinese can use this emplacement to destroy the US boats at Flag 4, if the Chinese capture 5. The US should use the grenade launcher emplacement to keep the Chinese pinned down in the village.
The US team can use the direct route (the centre of the small village between 1 and 5) to move towards 1, OR they can use the narrow bridge to the left and climb the cliff to make a stealthy approach towards 1. There's a sandbag emplacement on top of the tunnel which can be used to take cover. Make sure that you also use the first 30-MM which will spawn at Flag 5, to keep the Chinese pinned incase they attack. The US team can also use the 30MM to make a stealthy approach towards Flag 1 with one of the boats, or just secure the boat's back, or to keep the Chinese team busy at the right side of the temple.. (the open side)
If the US team succeeds, they should try to keep the entrance to the small village at Flag 1 covered so the Flag 4 boat crew can take Flag 1 easily from the back and take out the Chinese in the courtyard of the temple while the attacking players in the front will keep the Chinese fire concentrated on them.
The rest of the US team should use the LAV-300 (30-MM) to keep the Chinese pinned at the intersection in front of Flag 3 so the US can move out and capture the base. You can also use the 30-MM to patrol the waters incase the Chinese try to take the artillery strike or the boat next to it.
After the US has captured Flag 3, one player should move to the ammo box which resides between the big buildings, above the 3-way intersection. This can be used to call out mortar strikes on the street to keep the Chinese pinned down.
Then, the US should keep the enemy pinned from Flag 3 and 1.. (if you have 1, it will be a huge help) Taking Flag 2 will just make people angry and leave the game.. (if it was the only Chinese flag on the map that is)
Now the Chinese strategy. You have two FAVs and one BMD-3 (30mm) available. The 30mm can be used to defend Flag 1 or to attack Flag 5 using the narrow path which leads to Flag 5. Moving it to Flag 2 and 3 is risky, because the US 30-MM is completely amphibious and it is way more faster because it is a wheeled 30-MM, and it can easily destroy the Chinese 30-MM by cruising by and destroy it from the back. However, if you have engineers with you and a player manning the Anti-Tank Missile, it is easy to take down the US 30-MM. Decisions, decisions.
If the Chinese team manages to hold back the enemies at 1, they should move up towards Flag 5. Use the same tactics like the US team (the narrow bridge is the most useful of them) and the 30-MM and some players should use the small, blown-up bridge in the centre.
The temple has a grenade launcher emplacement which can be used to shoot grenades continously on the small village between Flag 5 and 1. This will pin down the US forces. The temple also has a 50-Cal gun emplacement, but it is rarely used because there is little cover around it or above it. It is next to explosive barrels too, but shoot them first, then use it.
Anyway, now the FAVs. One of them should be a full crew FAV, and the other one with 2 players. The FAV with 2 players will take Flag 2 and take control of the other BMD-3 which will spawn at Flag 2. They will use this 30-MM to help out the other FAV at Flag 3. Speaking of which, the other FAV with a full crew should make a fast approach to Flag 3.
If there is any engineers, they should plant mines on the intersection and under the water so the US 30-MM blows up incase it attacks. The others should take the flag. When the friendly 30-MM arrives with reinforcements, the Chinese team should move towards Flag 4. One or two player(s) should position themselves at the ammo box between the big buildings, above the intersection. It can be used to call out mortar strikes and to plant multiple C4s on the street incase a lot of enemies or the US 30-MM attack.
Some players of the Chinese team should take a boat from the sunken ship with the artillery strike, and attack Flag 5 with it. If the Chinese got hold of 5 at the start of the match, just keep the enemy pinned at 4.
Well, that covers it. You can vote all of the maps once, if you have many favourite maps.
My favourite CTF maps would be these maps too..but nobody really plays them. I rarely get to join a Japanese allmaps-playlist CTF match..the Japanese will kick you if you speak English, but hey, atleast it's fun if you keep your mouth shut.
