Am helping a kid from youtube get his account back, and I thought this information I told him might pertain or be useful to someone from here. Copied and Pasted.

You need to download/install Gamespy Arcade, register it with the same e-mail your Gamer ID is registered to, than when it asks for password, just do a password reset.
If you used a real email you have access to, you should receive a password reset, than reset your password. Go back, enter new password into GameSpy Arcade and log in.
You'll see a list on the right hand panel of GameSpy Arcade, it shows all your buddies you have added on BF2, if anyone who is on there that shouldn't be, remove them via that list by right clicking thier name. They won't be able to see you logon to BF2 now and freeze you as well.
Than go into your PS2 BF2 login screen and EDIT your existing ID, change the password to your reset password.
I have to goto work now so I won't be able to reply for awhile.

It's nice you're trying to help him out, though. Hackers are one of the reasons I don't ever accept friends invites except from people I know play straight and I've played with a lot.

Hey I tried what you said there for an account of mine that got lost a while back and I'm putting in the email correctly and clicking on "please email password", but when I go to my email, it doesn't send me anything. Instead, it opens up a page from gamespy.com that simply says this:
HTTP/1.1 Application Restarting
What the hell? Am I doing something wrong?

Sounds like an issue with your browser.
When the link opens up, it should just load a page with two boxes, where you would type in your new password twice.
A few suggestions, or what I would do if that situation happened for me.
I'd clear my browsers cache, cookies, temp files, history etc. Than I'd retry. If the problem persisted, I would than try another browser. (I have IE, FF, and Chrome installed for things like this) If the problem STILL existed, I would try resending the reset e-mail. If that link didn't work, I would chock it up to the issues they are having with accounts. I really don't think the last thing I said would be the problem though.
Or, find someone you trust and copy the link that was sent to you, and send it to them and see if they have the same error, or if they can set a password for you.
Hope something works out of all that^
